BYU Sesquicentennial Campus Commemorative Project
Planning to Celebrate
In preparation for BYU's sesquicentennial celebration in 2025, the university is issuing a request for qualifications from individuals who would be interested in designing the 150th-anniversary gift. At this early stage, the sesquicentennial committee is considering a host of possible gift ideas (sculptures, buildings, reflective space, landscape installations, or other permanent campus amenities) that reflect the anniversary's concept of "light" inspired by these scriptures:
"That light groweth brighter and brighter"—"That all may be edified of all." (D&C 50:24; 88:122)
Designers Wanted
Creative individuals interested in designing the BYU Sesquicentennial gift are encouraged to submit portfolios and resumes for university consideration via Public Artist.org. Both professionals and students are encouraged to apply.
Applications will be reviewed beginning November 1, 2022.
Following the application process, the selection committee will invite a select group to an on-campus orientation where each designer will be paid an honorarium to create a concept for the university gift. It is anticipated that one of these designs will be chosen and produced as the sesquicentennial gift.
