Service
Celebrate 150 Years of BYU with 150 Hours of Service!
Share your Light with Service
It’s BYU’s big 150th birthday—and what better way to celebrate than by "Sharing Your Light" through meaningful service! From August 2025 to June 2026, we’re inviting everyone—students, employees, alumni, and friends—to come together and complete 150 individual hours of service in honor of 150 years of BYU.
This is your chance to make a difference, connect with the BYU community around the world, and use your talents and knowledge for the benefit of others, as Jesus Christ did. Pick a cause you care about, record your hours, and share your experiences. Every hour counts, and every act of kindness shines a little brighter as we celebrate this milestone together.
Simple Ways to Share Your Light
· Do family history work
· Attend the temple
· Volunteer with a local organization
· Clean up trash or pull weeds in your neighborhood
· Serve locally with Just Serve
(These are just ideas—any service, big or small, counts!)

Record your service hours
While you share your light, record the service hour benchmarks you hit in the BYU 150 Passport! You can also track your hours however works best for you, whether it’s in your phone, a journal, or digitally with your BYU NetID through the Y-Serve feature in the BYU app or Y-Serve website.
As you hit benchmarks in the BYU 150 Passport, you will unlock different rewards:
10 Service Hours—Exclusive BYU Photo digital wallpaper
25 Service Hours—Discount for BYU Music Groups song download
50 Service Hours—Add a LEGO piece (or if not in the area, a LEGO piece with your name will be added) to the 150 BYU anniversary mural at the BYU Store
75 Service Hours—Free song download, "Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve" performed by the BYU Chamber Orchestra and another LEGO piece in your name on the anniversary mural
100 Service Hours—20% Discount code to the BYU Store (Online only)
150 Service Hours—Your name will be entered into a drawing. Five lucky winners will get to award funds to a BYU entity of their choice.
Once you've hit a benchmark and recorded it in your BYU 150 Passport, we’ll send you an email with details on how to claim your prize as a thank-you!
